Australian Open of Surfing, Manly
My first 6star Event for the year of 2012 was held last week in Manly, Australia…the Australian Open of Surfing.
I flew down a couple of days before the event so I could get a quick feel for the contest bank & have an idea of what I’d be dealing with when the contest started.
Over the weekend we also took a ride on the ferry into Sydney to explore the city, having a look at the Sydney Harbour, Opera House & the Botanical Gardens etc…
Monday was the day I had been waiting for…competition day!
I surfed well & I was happy with the way I performed throughout the contest. I made the round of 24, finishing equal 19th.
It was a great event with lots of action & it was good to see a crowd of people supporting the event, it not only had surfing but also a skateboarding event aswell as bands such as the Living End & Sneaky Sound System.
